F.A.Q.

These are some of the general questions I tend to receive.

I have answered below for your ease.

If you have a question that is not listed below, please feel free to contact me

Where are you located?

Sunbury on Thames, UK.

How much do your cakes cost?

Many factors are involved in determining the cost of a cake as every cake is baked/decorated and customised to order, therefore is priced individually. Cake pricing incorporates many variables and specifics, such as the number of servings, the complexity of design elements, and number of tiers. To get an idea of my price range please click here.

Do you offer cake tastings?

Yes, I now offer my new product "Cake Taster Box". I offer free collection, local delivery within 5 miles of my address or in addition, I offer postal delivery. For more information on my cake taster boxes, please click here. The best part is they are not limited to only customers looking to buy a wedding cake. You can buy for all occasions and can even make for a beautiful unique gift.

Do you have a retail store where I can walk in, view your work or purchase a cake?

Not yet! My preferred method of communication with my clients is via messaging, WhatsApp, Instagram, email or text. I find it easier to keep track of your requirements and changes to your design as I have your messages to refer back to. I can schedule appointments with clients to discuss your bespoke cake in depth, which is dedicated time just for you. Alternatively you can just drop me a message and I will get back to you pronto. You may also view my gallery to preview my previous work.

Do you deliver?

As an individual and small business, currently the preferred method for your bespoke cake would be collection. Cakes that are collected from my premises are always boxed for transportation. I would always recommend picking up your cake in a vehicle, tiered cakes can be very heavy. Unfortunately, I cannot take responsibility for any damage that may occur to the cake once it has left my premises.

However, if you are unable to collect your cake, I can offer delivery which is dependant on location. Delivery will include a small fee, which will be in addition to the cost of your cake. Please do ask for details when making your booking. For more information please click here.

How far in advance should I place my order?

All of my cakes are freshly baked to order, therefore I require the following notice.

Wedding Cakes

Clients are encouraged to schedule a consultation as soon as an event date has been set. Usually one - six months is ideal to save your date for a wedding cake or at least two weeks notice, but please get in touch and I will happily tell you my availability and schedule your consultation. I do also cater to emergency/urgent cakes and will accept a minimum of one weeks notice for a wedding cake.

Event Party & Mini Cakes

For event and celebration cakes a minimum of one weeks notice is required. However, if the cake is urgent please contact me as soon as possible and I will do my very best to accommodate as I also cater to emergency/urgent cakes and will accept a minimum of three days notice.

Do you require a deposit?

A non refundable deposit equalling to 50% of the full price is required to secure your date when booking two or more weeks in advance. The remaining 50% of the balance is due a minimum of 1 week before your event date. Orders made with less than two weeks notice will need to be paid in full at the time of booking.

Why is your deposit non refundable?

I take pride in delivering high quality bespoke cakes, this requires a good deal of preparation, part of which includes making or outsourcing bespoke cake toppers in advance.

I saw a photo of a cake that I love. Can you recreate it?

If you saw an image of a cake that you fell in love with, please screenshot and send to me. I am able to recreate the overall feel of the design, but not the exact cake. London Piece of Cake believes each client should have a custom cake designed for them.  Your cake should be special for you!

What do I need to send for my cake consultation?

I will collaborate on a custom cake design that embodies the full vision you have in mind for your event. Please send anything that you would like to incorporate into your design and/or is the inspiration behind your event.  I can pull inspiration from invitations, centre pieces, décor, bouquets, venue, theme or dress! I will create a digital sketch for you to view prior to your booking to allow you to make any desired changes as you wish and allow you to visualise your bespoke design before your cake is baked to order.

What do you use to cover your cakes?

Please note I cover all my cakes with a layer of chocolate ganache for best results, unless specifically requested not to. Ganache adds flavour as well as giving your cake an overall smoother and neater look. Not all of my cakes are covered in fondant unless specifically requested, so please ensure you let me know during the ordering process if this is something you want included on your cake.
