This 4 tier cake that I created turned out just as I had planned and expected. I gifted at my own expense, a battery operated windmill so that it rotated as a little kind gesture as the company I baked this cake for, is a windmill company.

Each tier was a different flavour, 4" top tier was biscoff sponge and buttercream, 6" was red velvet with cream cheese, 8" chocolate sponge and buttercream and 10" vanilla sponge and buttercream.

My cake care guide was sent to the customer prior to collection, but my client was unable to bring someone with her and did not have AC in her car. Usually a car without AC is fine, but due to the recent heat wave, I knew it wouldn't be able to withstand the high temperatures.

I then received pictures once it had reached the venue. I was gutted to see it had melted and the cellophane was then squashed against the cake. The windmill had dropped onto and damaged the cake slightly and the cake had started to split, from what I can only assume was from the movement in the vehicle doubled up with the excessive heat.

The customer was devastated and unsure how they would fix it. Unfortunately this is a risk with collecting such a large cake. Delivery and setup would be recommended as I would transport the tiers separately, stack on arrival and would have the required tools to fix any damages if they were to occur during trasit. Once the cake has left my premises I am no longer liable for any damages to the cake, however on this occasion I offered to go to the venue and fix the damages for them. I also perfected the windmill turbines as requested by the customer prior to leaving. I made up a new batch of white chocolate ganache, which I had to try and match to the same blue colour blindly as the cake had already been taken. I packed my cake revival kit and headed out as soon as possible.

Not only had I been baking everyday up until this date to complete other customer orders in this crazy heat wave, I had also already been awake for over 24 hours, whilst looking after my 3 small kids, along with my husband. Exhausted was an understatement! Haha!

It was an hour all around trip and I spent an hour and a half fixing the cake. I had to remove the cake topper, ribbons and all the windmills. Once all was removed I reapplied the ganache smoothing and perfecting the cakes edges and dents. Once this was finally complete I reapplied the green ribbon, the cake topper and the new windmills I had created before leaving using fondant. Once complete, I left it in the venues kitchen fridge as requested, took some pictures and sent to the customer before leaving.

The customer was extremely happy with the outcome and the overall taste, which makes all the hard work and time spent on this cake worth it! She also left me a wonderful review on google :)

"We commissioned a cake for our corporate party and found Romaana extremely professional and easy to deal with. The cake was beautifully designed and absolutely delicious. We had a different flavour for each tier. She really went the extra mile to make sure the final presentation was immaculate."

I have started designing and creating my own cake toppers using my cricut joy machine. I absolutely love it and I got it in the black Friday sale so an added bonus I got it £20 cheaper 😁

We as bakers are there from start to finish. We know how much time, effort, energy, concentration and sore feet, it takes to make a cake from cake mixture to a stunningly beautiful, well decorated and yummy tasting cake for our customers to enjoy.

I absolutely love going through each and every step, especially when applying ganache to the cakes. However my favourite part is most definitely the designing and decorating part.

I have attached a few pictures for you to see how one of my chocolate cakes look fresh out the oven, to after being filled with yummy buttercream and covered in chocolate ganache and then of course the all important final image of the cake fully decorated and ready for the customer 😁

For this order, I was asked that I make a tall black cake with gold drip for a 21st birthday cake. It had to be insta picture worthy lol! So I designed the below.
